oRb’s major activities are related to all things in the build environment.
Office for radical building is founded by Rob van Houten in 2012. He graduated from the Technical University in Delft in 1997 in Architecture and Building Technology. His graduation project was selected for the Archiprix.
Prior to oRb he has designed and realized various projects for Archi-Tectonics in NY, RWA (now Mei Architecten) in Rotterdam, and – as Senior Architect – at de Architekten Cie in Amsterdam.
Over the years he acquired his experience in various fields in architecture and urbanism. Well known realized work is the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Poppodium de Vorstin in Hilversum and the urban plan for the island IJburg in Amsterdam. He has a vast experience in housing, offices and public buildings, as well as urban planning and in design, specifically light design and acoustics.
Rob van Houten lectures in urbanism, architecture and building technology at the faculty of Architecture , Technical University Delft, and has lectured at the architecture academy in Amsterdam. He is a registered architect in the Netherlands, member of Architectura et Amicitia and boardmember of the Lighthouse club Noordzeekanaal as well as the Lighthouse Fonds.
