Hotel Asp

Just outside of the ring highway around Amsterdam an industrial harbor, the Achtersluispolder, is due to transform into a new living area. Though close to Amsterdam, the area is part of the neighboring borough of Zaandam.

oRb investigated to feasibility of the site for a hotel combined with business spaces. A U-shaped block, opening to the south is placed on a green roof. The green roof provides for a new, less industrial, atmosphere to the area, which is in need of attainable outdoor spaces during the transformation from industrial to living area.
